Consulting with a lawyer regarding divorce is a smart choice. Here are a few brief points to keep in mind as you move forward: 1) your attorney may advise pursuing avenues other than heading straight to court with that attorney–cost and practicality may be factors; 2) even the best attorneys may not know that exact answer to all your questions right away (but should get back to you with an answer); 3) the attorney may need to ask you difficult questions in order to get a clear picture of your situation and give you useful advice; 4) honesty goes a long way from both ends– being truthful with your attorney will help him or her give you honest and accurate answers and put your fears and expectations into perspective.
